Description
The general analytical techniques market segment is comprised of a series of basic technologies that have little in common, but tend to be slower growing parts of the overall instrumentation market: electrochemistry, lab balances, radioactivity, dissolution testing and continuous flow (CFA) & discrete analyzers. Electrochemistry and laboratory balances account for the largest portion of the general analytical techniques segment. Radioactivity and dissolution testing are the next two largest product categories followed by CFA and discrete analyzers. A growth rate of 2.4% is projected for the forecast period. Mettler-Toledo is the leader for general analytical techniques with almost a quarter of the total market share. Sartorius, Thermo Fisher Scientific, Xylem and Danaher compete in multiple product categories within this segment. However, as the general analytical techniques segment is comprised of technologies that do not have much in common, it follows that there are also a number of smaller suppliers that only sell one particular technology, often for a niche market.
