Description
How the impending budget cuts are likely to affect demand in the life science laboratory supply market.
BioInformatics LLC conducted this study to assess the likely impact of the impending budget sequestration on life science research in the U.S. and the industry that supports it through the manufacture and sales of analytical instrumentation, laboratory equipment and consumables. BioInformatics LLC also wanted to provide an outlet for scientists to offer their advice on how Congress and the Administration can balance the need for fiscal responsibility and continued investment in life science research. The comments and opinions of these scientists are reported verbatim throughout this report.
This report is based on the responses of 320 life science researchers in the U.S. with knowledge of their lab’s annual operational research budget. The 16-question survey was fielded by BioInformatics LLC to members of The Science Advisory Board® between February 22 and 26, 2013. The Science Advisory Board® is an expert network of more than 72,000 scientists from all regions and market segments who share their experiences and thoughts on emerging technologies. BioInformatics LLC founded The Science Advisory Board® in 1997.
